This was perhaps the only job that has actually frightened
me but at the same
time I was very
excited to be doing it.
When I accepted the commission I found myself clambering about in what was the bare bones of the
building at the time,
all concrete and scaffolding, trying to get a sense of its
future appearance.
There were a few changes along the
way - the architects' plans were extremely helpful though and I have to acknowledge their contribution of
a 3d wireframe
drawing of the
interior.
A map of Robben
Island was also originated at the
same time and it
can be viewed
here as part of the maps slideshow.
